Google Doesn’t Like AI!

Today, originality and updated information are what sets your blog apart from AI generated content. AI falls short of creative accuracy by recycling outdated information. Use your intelligent human brain to add something new to the conversation. When artificial intelligence writes, it uses content from the preexisting pool of information. Tools like ChatGPT by OpenAI have skyrocketed in popularity this year. It’s so popular that website traffic has made it inaccessible.

This is a reasonable fear considering the abilities of AI. But rest assured is less and less threatening the more we examine AI’s shortcomings. The fact of the matter is that Google doesn’t like AI generated content. Furthermore, automatically generated content is against Googles webmaster guidelines. If your posts are only restating others, they become redundant. Thus, they are unlikely to make it anywhere near the top of the search results.

Is AI Plagiarism?

AI generating text isn’t a completely new concept. 77% of the devices we use on a regular basis have some form of artificial intelligence. Tools like Grammarly or Google docs that suggest edits to your own writing have long existed. Besides these editing tools, the use of AI in an academic setting is now considered to be plagiarism. Catching this form of plagiarism can be difficult. This is because instead of one source, random pieces from several sources are being used. To be technical, anything you didn’t write but you are passing off as your own, is plagiarism. Many AI platforms claim that their content is not plagiarism- but it’s not original either. Reusing already published content won’t do your blog any justice, for users or SEO.

How to Use AI as a Writing Tool

Artificial Intelligence is an incredible technological innovation. Of course, it can be helpful for writers and web developers. Using AI can increase work productivity by 40%. Good content can start with AI generated text, but it cannot finish a well written piece for you. For example, AI tools can help you to get a basic grasp of a concept, or to see what information is already available. From this information, you can produce an unfinished outline. The information still needs examining for accuracy and credibility by a human. Further research is also needed. Not to mention it will need revival with a human prose style. In essence artificial intelligence regurgitates search results to create content for you. Whoever wrote it first gets the credit and shows up first in search results. So, by taking AI generated text without a grain of salt you’re sabotaging SEO.

You can incorporate AI into your writing, by collaborating with it. Remember that AI is not an all-inclusive substitution for content written by humans. Your generated text will need edits. For instance, fact checking more information, research, sources, keywords, and an original voice. Lest we forget the most important edits to add—your own ideas! Another tip is to use your own research in the prompt in hopes AI can generate something specific.
